EU imposes anti-dumping duties on Chinese aluminium products
On March 30, the European Commission (EC) announced the regulation to impose anti-dumping duties on aluminium profiles originated from China. Anti-dumping duties range from 21.2% to 32.1% and will be applied for the next 5 years.
Aluminum producers in Europe are starting to recover from the losses caused by Chinese dumping and focus on strengthening their position in strategic markets with the applications of low-carbon products.
The drop in imports has resulted in reduced output and loss of market share for European producers throughout the value chain, which has forced some companies to restructure or close their factories, resulting in many workers losing their jobs.
The fact that China's aluminium profile is subjected to anti-dumping duties in the EU may lead to Chinese aluminum manufacturers shifting to increase exports to other markets, including Vietnam.
